In January, pianist Joe Alterman inaugurates the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra’s Midtown After Hours jazz programming at the Goizueta Stage for Youth & Families.

Drawing inspiration from the music of Brahms, Bach and Rachmaninoff, Alterman curates genre-bending evenings that explore deep musical connections across centuries. Standards, stories, and humor keep the mix feeling fresh with serious roots.

Across three concerts, Alterman, drummer Justin Chersarek and bassist Kevin Smith present jazz-influenced takes on melodies by Bach, Brahms and Rachmaninoff.
