Pre-Concert Lecture with Dr. Marie Sumner Lott
Revealing Brahms' Spiritual Side
This interactive talk will explore the themes of mourning and comfort in Brahms' major breakthrough piece, A German Requiem. Composed in the 1860s, it was his first work to reach audiences throughout the German-speaking world, and it cemented his reputation as a major figure in modern music of the nineteenth century.
