About
Join us for a special pre-concert lecture as part of Echoes of Beethoven, a series exploring the lasting influence of Ludwig van Beethoven on generations of composers. This engaging talk will focus on composer and guest conductor Jörg Widmann’s Con brio, a vibrant work that directly references Beethoven’s symphonies and style.
The lecture will explore how Beethoven’s innovation and artistry inspired Con brio, while also highlighting the ways Widmann’s work connects with the evening’s accompanying Mozart masterpieces: Violin Concerto No. 5, "Turkish" and Symphony No. 41, "Jupiter." Through historical and musical insights, audiences will gain a deeper understanding of the dialogue between Beethoven, Mozart, and contemporary composers.
This pre-concert lecture will take place in the Event Room across from Symphony Hall.
