About
Join us for these special pre-concert chamber performances in Symphony Hall featuring members of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and guest soprano Wanda Yang Temko.
Did you know that carols, like puppies, are not just for Christmas?
The program begins with an arrangement by ASO Principal Librarian Joshua Luty of The Crown of Roses, Tchaikovsky's incredibly moving carol that tells the Easter part of Jesus' story.
Closing the program is Anton Arensky's Second String Quartet; a chamber music tribute to Tchaikovsky following his death. Arensky chose the unusual scoring of violin, viola, and two cellos for this work to enhance its deep, mournful sonority, particularly in the allusions to Russian liturgical chant.
These performances are open and free. Seating is on-stage with the musicians and available on a first-come first-served basis.
