About
In this dance-inspired concert, the dynamic ASO favorite Carlos Kalmar returns to his roots. Born in Uruguay and raised in Vienna, Kalmar taps into the powerful dance traditions of both locales with a sinuous tango by Astor Piazzolla featuring Ksenija Sidorova dazzling on the accordion. The Piazzolla is presented alongside a sumptuous waltz (the forerunner to the tango). Staying with Vienna, Kalmar leads the Orchestra in Schubert's haunting "Unfinished" Symphony. He opens the program with music by Jessie Montgomery, a composer from his adopted homeland: the USA.
In consultation with medical and public health experts, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra is requiring audience members to show proof of vaccination, or a negative COVID test taken within 48 hours of the performance.
