Jonathan Biss Performs Mozart
Thursday at 8:00PM
Vienna, 1781 - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart moved to town to work as a freelance musician. A genius of mind-blowing ability, he made his living writing and performing piano concertos. A hundred years later, Anton Bruckner, a quirky church organist with singular vision made his way in that same city, pouring his mind and soul into massive, cataclysmic symphonies.
This week, take a spin through Vienna with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Principal Guest Conductor Donald Runnicles guides the renowned ensemble in the turbulent Piano Concerto No. 20 by Mozart, featuring soloist Jonathan Biss. After intermission, Maestro Runnicles pulls out all the stops for Bruckner’s hulking Symphony No. 8.
