About
"Nibbling, nibbling, little mouse! Who's nibbling on my little house?"
Based on the Brothers Grimm fairy tale of the same name, Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel refashions the tale of two siblings lost in the woods and turns it into a delightful opera with more happily ever after than the original fairy tale.
Hansel and Gretel still get lost in the woods, they still find a gingerbread house, but along the way they meet the Sandman and the Dew Fairy, two benevolent spirits who watch over them. Will Hansel and Gretel make it back to mother and father? Who lives in that funny gingerbread house? Come along through the woods with the ASO, Sir Donald Runnicles, and an all-star line-up of vocalists, and see if we all live happily ever after!
Program Update: Mezzo-soprano Melody Moore will now perform the role of Mother in place of Michaela Martens.
Atlanta Symphony Hall will be implementing a mandatory vaccine policy for audiences. Proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours prior to performance, as well as matching photo ID, will be required upon arrival to Atlanta Symphony Hall. As of November 1, patrons under 12 will not be required to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test. More details are available on our Health & Safety page.
