ASO bassist and composer Michael Kurth is also an avid collector of musical instruments, and in honor of the day, we had him bring some in for show-and-tell. A week ago, the world lost legendary pianist André Watts. Watts made his Atlanta Symphony Orchestra debut in 1976 and returned to our stage often over the course of his extraordinary career—including recording Tchaikovsky's first piano concerto and Saint-Saëns' second with the ASO in 1995. We are grateful to have had these opportunities to create music with him, and send deepest condolences to his loved ones.
