About
A signature work of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, Brahms’ A German Requiem found a home in Atlanta under one-time Music Director Robert Shaw, the famed choral conductor who established the Chorus in 1970. Today the ASO Chorus is among the finest vocal ensembles in the world, taking the Brahms Requiem to new heights at Carnegie Hall and beyond through a much-acclaimed recording. This week, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Chorus continue the legacy with Principal Guest Conductor Donald Runnicles in this impassioned lament for the departed. The Requiem is complemented by Adolpus Hailstork’s elegiac Epitaph for a Man Who Dreamed, written in memory of Martin Luther King, Jr.
