Alisa Weilerstein Returns
Saturday at 8:00PM
Alisa Weilerstein returns to the ASO this weekend packing Osvaldo Golijov's Azul, a concerto for cello and orchestra which she has made her own since 2007. One of the foremost cellists of our time, Weilerstein is an audience favorite; this time bringing a composition from another ASO favorite, Osvaldo Golijov.
Conductor James Gaffigan returns to lead the Orchestra in a program of dance music: Rameau’s suite from his imaginative ballet Les Indes galantes; Adams' seductive foxtrot between Chairman Mao and his bride, the famous Madame Mao (written as an exercise that would later become the opera Nixon in China); and Ravel's magical ballet Mother Goose.
