Alisa Weilerstein Returns
Thursday at 8:00PM
Saturday at 8:00PM
Alisa Weilerstein returns to the ASO this weekend packing Osvaldo Golijov's Azul, a concerto for cello and orchestra which she has made her own since 2007. One of the foremost cellists of our time, Weilerstein is an audience favorite; this time bringing a composition from another ASO favorite, Osvaldo Golijov.
Conductor James Gaffigan returns to lead the Orchestra in a program of dance music: Rameau’s suite from his imaginative ballet Les indes galantes; Adams' seductive foxtrot between Chairman Mao and his bride, the famous Madame Mao (written as an exercise that would later become the opera Nixon in China); and Ravel's magical ballet Mother Goose.
The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will be implementing a mandatory vaccine policy for audiences. Beginning September 1, 2021, proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours prior to performance, as well as matching photo ID, will be required upon arrival at Atlanta Symphony Hall.
