ASO's Day Of The Dead Festival Returns Saturday, Nov. 1
The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra hosts its fourth annual, free Día de los Muertos Festival on Saturday, November 1, from 11:30am to 4:30pm at The Woodruff Arts Center.
The family-friendly festival is open to the public and will include live music and dancers, ofrendas, stilt walkers, interactive photo booths, and a children’s area with face painting, storytelling, and games with prizes.
While most of the activities will be ongoing, there will be special performances throughout the afternoon, which include:
- ASO violinist Juan R. Ramírez-Hernández performing with an ensemble of orchestra musicians.
- Actors from the Alliance Theater performing excerpts from the upcoming show, Basura.
- Storyteller Camille telling tales about Dia de los Muertos in Spanish and English.
- Horse exhibition by Rancho Los Gallos de Oro with Andalusian and Friesian Stallions.
- Dance performances by Grupo Folklorico Itzamatul
Local Mexican American community organizations and vendors will be on-site with food trucks with traditional food and drinks available for purchase. All festival activities will take place either outside on Callaway Plaza or inside the Memorial Arts Building.
Admission to the festival is free and more details, including an event schedule, will be released at aso.org/dia-de-los-muertos
