About

Superheroes & villains, ghosts & goblins, princesses & princes — they all need theme music and this concert provides the finest. Kids (and adults!) can get an early jump on showing off their halloween costumes with the Orchestra joining in with some outrageous get-ups.

Kids of all ages are encouraged to wear costumes.

Pre-concert activities will be held in the lobby of Symphony Hall one hour before performance and will include crafts, special photo opportunities and more.

Concert Length: 50 minutes, No intermission

Saturday, October 21, is one of the ASO’s two performances of Amjad Ali Khan's Samaagam—a concerto for sarod and orchestra—and we’re making a whole night of it! ASO bassist and composer Michael Kurth is also an avid collector of musical instruments, and in honor of the day, we had him bring some in for show-and-tell. A week ago, the world lost legendary pianist André Watts. Watts made his Atlanta Symphony Orchestra debut in 1976 and returned to our stage often over the course of his extraordinary career—including recording Tchaikovsky's first piano concerto and Saint-Saëns' second with the ASO in 1995. We are grateful to have had these opportunities to create music with him, and send deepest condolences to his loved ones.
