Songs & Stories

A dazzling selection of evocative tone poems and songs lends a storytelling feel to these concerts. Nathalie Stutzmann opens with Mahler’s Des Knaben Wunderhorn, Rimsky-Korsakov’s adventurous tale Scheherazade, and Khachaturian's whirling and unabashedly romantic music from the ballets Gayane and Spartacus. The Beethoven Project is well-represented here, with his Symphonies No. 2 and No. 5 and the epic Missa solemnis featuring the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus.
