Tomas Koch

Tomas Koch is a student at Pope High School (Class of 2029). He started playing flute in seventh grade at the La Paz Intermediate School in California where he was invited to the Jazz Band and Advanced Band. He participated in multiple competitions and performances such as Knott’s Music Festival. In January 2024, Tomas started studying with Mary Palchak, Flute Professor at Chapman University. He was invited to join the South Coast Symphony Orchestra in early 2024. After moving to Georgia, he started studying under Kellie Henry. In early 2025, he joined the Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra as first chair flute and later opted to also play piccolo. In eighth grade, he was selected for GMEA All-State Band.
In 2025, Tomas was selected to participate in the prestigious Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Talent Development Program (TDP). As a TDP student, he currently studies under ASO’s Todd Skitch. After graduation, Tomas would like to be a Flute performance major at a leading music conservatory with the goal of becoming an international soloist playing in a major orchestra. In addition to his love for music, Tomas practiced Olympic Saber Fencing, was a member of the Hightower Trail Middle School Chess Club, and is currently a member of the Pope High School Math Team.
