Biography

Violinist Ruoying Pan joined the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra in 2025. That same year, she was invited to the Stauffer Academy Concertmaster Program in Cremona, Italy, and performs at the Pacific Music Festival in Japan. In 2024, she served as concertmaster at the Music Academy of the West Soloist & Leadership Program, leading the orchestra under the direction of David Robertson. Pan has also performed with the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington, D.C., and the China NCPA Orchestra in Beijing.

As a soloist, Pan has appeared with the Hangzhou Philharmonic, Harbin Symphony, and Xi’an Symphony Orchestra, sharing a wide range of repertoire with audiences across Asia, North America, and Europe. She also enjoys chamber music and has performed as first violinist of the Proust String Quartet, including a memorable collaboration on Mendelssohn’s Octet with members of the Emerson String Quartet.

Pan's recent honors include 1st Prize at the 2025 Golden Classical Music Awards International Competition, 1st Prize at the 2024 Vienna International Mozart Competition, and the Gold Prize of the 2024 Berlioz International Music Competition. She has worked with many inspiring mentors in masterclasses, including Glenn Dicterow, Martin Beaver, Midori Goto, Jennifer Koh, Elmar Oliveira, Toby Appel, and Vadim Gluzman.

She is currently completing her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Stony Brook University, where she also serves as a teaching assistant, following previous studies at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University and the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University.

Outside of music, Pan loves reading, photography, yoga, and spending time in nature—spaces where she finds balance and inspiration.
