Biography

A native of Fort Worth, Texas, Reese Farnell joins the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra as Third Horn, following serving for the 2024-2025 season as Interim Assistant Principal/Utility Horn with the Dallas Symphony. Mr. Farnell has performed with Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and Sichuan Symphony. He has appeared as Guest Associate Principal Horn with the ASO and Fort Worth Symphony, and Guest Principal Horn with Symphony S.O.N.G. in Seoul, Korea.

Mr. Farnell has performed with The Dallas Opera and Dallas Chamber Symphony, and onstage with Yo Yo Ma, Andrea Bocelli, The Who, Marvin Sapp, Ben Folds, Ben Rector and Cody Fry, among others. Since 2023, he has spent summers with the Music in the Mountains festival orchestra in Durango, Colorado.

Reese holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Texas, where he studied with Patrick Hughes, and a Master of Music and Master of Musical Arts from Yale University, where he studied with William Purvis. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife Kitt and their three dogs, trail running, backpacking, rock climbing, and other outdoor hobbies.
