Biography

Nicholas (Nick) Scholefield will join the double bass section of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra for the 2022/23 season. Prior to joining the ASO, Scholefield had been a member of the Alabama Symphony Orchestra since 2019. He studied with Jeffrey Turner and completed one year of a Performance Diploma in Orchestral Studies at The Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University. Additionally, he earned his master's degree in Music Performance, with an outside area in music theory at Indiana University studying with Bruce Bransby. He completed his first two years of undergraduate study at Kennesaw State University studying with Douglas Sommer and ASO Principal Bass Joseph McFadden before transferring to Indiana University where he studied with Bruce Bransby and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Music Performance with High Distinction. He has also attended the Aspen Music Festival and School and the National Orchestral Institute.
