Pianist Michelle Cann Makes ASO Debut
Thursday at 8:00PM
Saturday at 8:00PM
"Michelle Cann...was a compelling, sparkling virtuoso, bringing [Price's] riveting work to life in its first New York performance" (Boston Musical Intelligencer).
The Orchestra's 2021/22 season features a number of rising star artists; pianist Michelle Cann has certainly earned her place among them. Performing since the age 7, she makes her Atlanta Symphony Orchestra debut with Florence Price's Piano Concerto in One Movement, a piece she's playing to great acclaim.
Also, Principal Guest Conductor Donald Runnicles leads the orchestra in Mahler's First Symphony — a piece that initially confounded audiences with its daring and innovation. "Sometimes it sent shivers down my spine," lamented Mahler. "Damn it all, where do people keep their ears and their hearts if they can't hear that!"
Open your ears and hearts this weekend and enjoy this sunny, spring-inspired symphony alongside the gifted Michelle Cann.
