Michelle Cann Plays Florence Price at UGA
Friday at 8:00PM
"Michelle Cann...was a compelling, sparkling virtuoso, bringing [Price's] riveting work to life in its first New York performance" (Boston Musical Intelligencer).
Open your ears and hearts during this special performance at the Hugh Hodgson Concert Hall at the Univeristy of Georgia and enjoy a sunny, spring-inspired symphony alongside the gifted Michelle Cann.
The Orchestra's 2021/22 season features a number of rising star artists, and pianist Michelle Cann has certainly earned her place among them. Performing since age seven, she makes her Atlanta Symphony Orchestra debut with Florence Price's Piano Concerto in One Movement, a piece she's playing to great acclaim.
Also, Principal Guest Conductor Donald Runnicles leads the orchestra in Mahler's First Symphony — a piece that initially confounded audiences with its daring and innovation. "Sometimes it sent shivers down my spine," lamented Mahler. "Damn it all, where do people keep their ears and their hearts if they can't hear that!"
