Biography

Lauren Williams is a thirteen-year-old clarinetist in ninth grade at DeKalb School of the Arts in Avondale Estates, Georgia. There she plays 2nd clarinet in the concert band under the direction of Mr. Anthony Moore. Lauren was introduced to the clarinet at age eight by her band director, Mr. Carlos Fowler, at Wadsworth Magnet School for High Achievers. She further developed her musical interest with private instruction from clarinetist and music educator, Ms. Mevonnie Biggins. Lauren enjoys performing with her band each year at the GMEA Festival's LGPE. Lauren entered the Talent Development Program at age eleven. She currently studies under the tutelage of ASO clarinetist Marci Gurnow. Outside of TDP, Lauren leads her peers as freshman class treasurer at Dekalb School of the Arts. Additionally, Lauren enjoys participating in intellectually enriching events with fellow scholars of Mensa International.
